Change Up Your Sweater!

Sick of having “Sweater Weather” stuck in your head…but secretly loving it all the same? Try this synonymous track – “After You” – by the beautifully sinister Meg Myers.

It maintains the simplistic melody anchored by a heavier backbeat that defines The Neighbourhood’s track, and it continues the themes of unrequited love, cold weather, and – of course – sweaters. You can still get that ooey-gooey lovey-dovey sentimentality vis-à-vis the sweater: “I stole this sweater from your car/ So I’d have you all night in my arms” that The Neighbourhood’s hit single has: “’Cuz it’s too cold for you here and now/ So let me hold both your hands in the holes of my sweater”. There’s even a touch of The xx near the end when she recites, “My heart skips a beat”.

If “After You” pleasurably strikes the melancholy chords in your angsty little heart, check out some of Meg’s darker songs such as “Desire” or “Poison“.
